RGS Cricket Festival now in full swing

After victories on Monday for High Wycombe, Newcastle and Lancaster, day two saw three quite one-sided games. At the school ground, Lancaster never recovered from 43-5 and their eventual 113 was never going to be enough against an impressive High Wycombe side, who eventually coasted to a 7 wicket victory. In their match against Guildford, Worcester also found it hard going batting first and were bowled out for 142 with 14 of their 50 overs remaining. Guildford raced to 90-2 off only 19 overs and eventually passed their target with plenty of overs and wickets to spare. Meanwhile, over at Castle Park, Newcastle took advantage of some indifferent Colchester bowling and fielding to score 281-7, the highest total of the tournament so far. This was always likely to be too many for Colchester, but a determined effort took them to an eventual 155, with James Patient batting particularly well.

Day two results:

  • High Wycombe 114-3 beat Lancaster 113-8 by 7 wickets
  • Guildford 144-3 beat Worcester 142 by 7 wickets
  • Newcastle 281-7 beat Colchester 155 by 126 runs

Today is Old Colcestrians Reunion Day and we look forward to welcoming old members of the school down to lunch in the Festival marquee.
