Inter-School Public Speaking Competition!

Well done to three Year 9 students – Elliot Loukin, Dylan Boyles and Sam Roberts – who took part in the Inter-School Public Speaking Competition on Thursday 15th June. The boys carried out their respective roles as Appraiser, Reciter and Presenter effectively at the competition, which was hosted by St Mary’s School.

Up against six other local schools, Colchester Royal Grammar School faced tough opposition. Sam Roberts presented a speech entitled ‘Creativity: A Dying Subject’, which concentrated on the need for a focus on creativity throughout a child’s education. This was followed by a captivating recitation of William Shakespeare’s ‘All the World’s a Stage’ by Dylan Boyles. Elliott, too, spoke expressively and articulately when introducing his fellow team members, and he also gave a solid performance whilst presenting a vote of thanks for a different team.

CRGS unfortunately lost to St Benedict’s Catholic College on the award for Best Team, but Dylan's compelling performance earned him the award for Best Reciter! All three students should be very proud of themselves!
