PRESIDENT'S XV VICTORIOUS IN HARD FOUGHT MATCH AGAINST HEADMASTER'S XV

This year’s OCs rugby match moved to a new date and a new format.

However this did not stop the event being a great success, breathing life in to what is the most traditional of OCs sporting fixtures.

Sunday 2nd January 2011 saw a mix of over 40 players form two teams: the Headmaster’s XV (consisting of current students and the most recent school leavers) vs the President’s XV (comprising the not-so-recent school leavers).

The game itself was a well contested affair with momentum frequently swinging between the young guns in the Headmasters XV and the older (but not necessarily wiser) President’s XV.

Moments of dazzling rugby kept the large crowd of parents, students and even the odd teacher entertained until the end. Eventually it was the President’s XV who ran out winners, by 37 points to 10.

The real winner, however, was the OCs fixture - a turnout of over 40 players and a large crowd has not been matched in a number of years. Overall a great deal of enjoyment was had from the warm-up through to the post match beers in the beloved Hospital Arms.

It is now important that we capitalise on the momentum gained from this enjoyable sporting event - the number of attendees proved that there are plenty of recent school leavers keen to get involved in the activities of the OCs.
