The Sunday Times Schools Guide 2018 will be published this weekend. Colchester Royal Grammar School has won the very prestigious award: “The Sunday Times Parent Power East Anglia State Secondary School of the Year”. The achievements last year were remarkable, with over 90% of grades at A level being A*, A or B and 100 students achieving 3A*A or better. CRGS is now averaging 35 Oxbridge offers every year and receives offers from top universities across the world, such as MIT and Hong Kong University. With 46% of GCSE grades now at A*, the future looks bright for the young students of this traditional school.

Mr Russell, the Headmaster, has commented:

“I have outstanding staff, a tremendous set of students and very supportive parents and alumni. We aim for excellence in all that we do, and hope to produce the next generation of leaders for our society. A significant factor towards achieving excellence is the enrichment that we offer our students. As such, we now have national champions in dance, chess and French spelling. We have also won an international competition in physics and even have a member of the Italian national maths team. We are regional champions in a range of sports and I would describe our music as second to none. I am absolutely delighted with the award, which is a recognition of the achievements of our remarkable students.”
