Old Colcestrian Society Launches Hong Kong Branch

On Friday 16th March, the Old Colcestrian Society launched a Hong Kong Branch with a gathering at the prestigious Hong Kong Club. The event was sold out, with over 60 people attending, including OCS members, other former CRGS students, parents of students from Hong Kong and boys who will begin at CRGS in September this year.

The gathering was organised by OCS members Bryan Carter (1958-63) and Anthony Cheung (1999-2001) and kindly hosted by Robert Kennard, an Old Chigwellian.

The OCS Chairman, Richard Kemp, addressed the gathering, the first we have held in Hong Kong, announcing the formation of the Hong Kong Branch. He also read out a message of welcome from the society President, Trevor Hearn.

The society’s President-elect, Greg Dunn, also spoke, previewing the organ appeal he plans to launch during his presidency beginning this summer.

Bryan Carter conducted a raffle for some excellent prizes including champagne, whisky and OCS ties, caps, cufflinks and scarfs.

The gathering was an opportunity for old friends to meet again, for new connections to be made and for boys starting at the school this year to get to know each other before arriving in Colchester.

The Hong Kong Branch is already planning another informal gathering in the summer and its first annual dinner in 2019.
