Staff Profiles

Evening and weekend supervision is shared between the residential boarding staff, who aim to build strong professional relationships with CRGS boarders. As well as academic support, for example, help with UCAS applications and personal statements, students are supported emotionally and pastorally throughout the year. The Headmaster has overall responsibility for boarding. The staff for the 2023-24 academic year are:

  • Miss H Byrne - Head of Boarding
  • Mr M Tanner - House parent, Teacher of Religious Studies
  • Mr E Baratta - House Parent, Teacher of MFL
  • Mr Hutnik - Residential staff member
  • Mr J Tebbutt - Resident PGCE trainee
  • Miss J Anderson - Matron and Laundry Manager

Holly Byrne joined CRGS as Head of Boarding in September 2019 and has worked residentially in boarding since 2014. Holly has a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science and spends her spare time coaching and playing netball. She has over a decade of experience working in a residential setting with teenagers; coaching, mentoring and helping them secure a place at top universities. Having spent two years setting up a new boarding house at her previous school, Holly was keen to develop the boarding community at CRGS by introducing girls to the mix in 2019. Seeking to continue to improve the provisions in place, Holly is thoroughly enjoying her role at CRGS and resides in accommodation attached to one of the boarding houses with her pet dog Mango.

Michael Tanner is an RS teacher at CRGS and has been teaching at the school for over two years. He is a houseparent in Gilberd house. Due to Michael specialising in RS, he can give additional support in essay-based subjects and with personal statements. He is an approachable member of staff that students know they can go to for advice and guidance.

Emmanuel Baratta is a House Parent in Gilberd House. With over 25 years teaching experience in various academic and pastoral roles, he has a true understanding of what it means to help teenagers thrive and succeed. After spending more than 10 years as a Head of MFL in his previous school, he has joined CRGS in 2017 as a French teacher.

Piotr Hutnik is a member of the Gilberd house team, who works offsite but has experience in supporting students.

Joe Tebbutt is a residential staff member in School House, whilst working at CRGS he is studying his PGCE and QTS to become a PE teacher. He has done 2 years in boarding schools and enjoys playing and watching all sports. When he’s not at school Mr Tebbutt goes home to Windsor and enjoys playing FIFA, building lego and going on bike rides with his twin baby brothers.

Jade Anderson is the Laundry Manager and Boarding Matron, who has worked at CRGS since June 2021 originally as a part of the Site Team before extending her duties into the Boarding Team. Jade currently co-runs a community-based Basketball Club encouraging children into the sport from a young age through to encouraging adults to play in local leagues. Jade is thoroughly enjoying her role with CRGS and looking forward to being more involved with the boarding students and team.

Surrounding and supporting our boarding staff we have our fantastic chefs, Nick, Dawn and Ela, who provide our boarders with home cooked meals, festive favourites and hearty Sunday roasts. Last but not least, our hard working team of cleaners are miracle workers keeping on top of a house of 30 teenagers!
