Senior Maths Challenge Success

The Senior Maths Challenge is run by the UK Mathematics Trust (www.ukmt.org.uk) and aimed at those in Year 12 and 13. The trust is a registered charity whose aim is to advance the education of children and young people in mathematics.

Congratulations to the at CRGS who achieved 25 gold, 31 silver and 21 bronze awards in this year's UKMT Senior Maths Challenge. Over 81,000 students from across the UK took part, with the top 10% receiving a gold certificate, the next 20% silver and the next 30% bronze.

Approximately 4,000 of the top students are invited to sit one of the follow-on competitions, the British Maths Olympiad Round 1 or the Senior Kangaroo. From Year 13, Kevin Choi (Best in School), Tom Chambers, Callum Latimer, Conor Bailey and Jason Joykutty qualified for BMO1, and Becca Baslington, Conor Mitchell, Chris Skeet, Harry Wilson, Aidan Hilton and Rama Purewal qualified for the Kangaroo. In Year 12, Calum McCain (Best in Year) qualified for BMO1 and Tom Winwright, Jonathan Ma, Arthur Chan and Thomas Weller qualified for  the Kangaroo. From Years 11 and 10, Tek Chung (Best in Year) made it through to BMO1 and Raiad Shahzad, Harry Watson (Best in Year) and Dan Townsend qualified for the Kangaroo.
