Speech Day - A Special Occasion

Posted On: 27/07/15

The school's annual Speech Day ceremony on Tuesday marked the end of the school year. Former student Tom Guglielmi who left CRGS in 2000, and after Classics at Cambridge, went on to become the youngest Executive Director in the history of Ernst and Young, travelled back from the US for the occasion and presented the prizes to the students.

The Headmaster presented his final report of the school year, said his farewell to the school and received a standing ovation from the audience of staff, students, governors and parents. His wife, Jackie, joined him on stage, as they were thanked for their dedication to CRGS over so many years and they were presented with a generous leaving gift by CRGSA chair Susan Devereaux on behalf of the parents of the school.

Tom addressed the prize-winners and shared his thoughts on his time at CRGS and his career to date. He drew parallels which will have inspired the students to make the most of the opportunities they enjoy.

The school year has been one of the most successful for CRGS on all fronts and was a fitting finale to Mr Jenkinson's time at the school. The Headmaster paid tribute to the commitment of the whole school team and the talents of the students. Music for the occasion was provided by the Year 13 Barbers' Shop Singers and included a rendition of the School Song.

After the ceremony, guests, students, parents, governors and staff all mingled in the school gardens and enjoyed strawberries and drinks in glorious sunshine.
