University Offers Success

Students and staff have been celebrating the successes of Year 13s in their university applications.  Thirty one students have been successful in gaining an offer from Oxbridge this year (14 at Oxford and 17 at Cambridge) for courses that include those considered the most competitive, such as Medicine, Economics and Management, and English.  These places have been achieved in what is now a highly competitive global field, and successful students should be rightly proud of their achievement.  For those that were disappointed to find they did not have a place, this soon faded with the news of offers from other top flight universities that often outrank Oxbridge in their specific departmental fields.  Imperial, Warwick, Bath, Bristol, Exeter and Durham universities for example, feature heavily in the list of offers held by CRGS students.

Our strong field of vets have all received offers of university places, and the offers are now starting to arrive for most of our large cohort of medics, after rounds of gruelling interviews.  However perhaps the most interesting development in the offers received this year is the growing number of students lucky enough to receive unconditional offers.  These are awarded by universities in recognition of the strength of a student’s academic record on application, in an attempt to attract them to make them their first choice university.  One geography student has been lucky enough to be in the position to hold three such offers!
