CRGS Summer School Courses 2018 - places still available!

Posted On: 07/06/18

As you may be aware, we are planning an exciting pair of summer school courses at CRGS for girls and boys in Years 5-9.  Places are filling up quickly, but we still have some remaining and with the initial deadline for applications gone we can now announce that applications are still welcomed for the remaining places on both courses:

  • Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Colchester – aimed at students currently in Years 5, 6 and 7
  • The Young Apprentice – aimed at students currently in Years 7, 8 and 9

The two are very different in content but both promote team work, confidence-building and presentation skills, and will be delivered in an imaginative format making use of CRGS’s first class IT, Science and Technology facilities. Students will be encouraged to have fun and make new friends. Previous summer schools have been validated by Essex Children’s University as ‘Learning Destinations’ and we anticipate the same this year.

Parents/guardians are invited to attend on the afternoon of the final day to celebrate the successes of the students with a bring and share buffet lunch followed by a presentation for each summer school.

The first session each day will begin at 9am, although a supervised room will be available from 8.30am for early drop off.  The anticipated finish time will be 2.30pm, although a supervised room will be available until 3.30pm for those that require a later pick-up time.  Students are expected to bring a packed lunch with them each day.

Should you wish your son or daughter to attend, please complete the attached application form and return by email to Miss Baines ( as soon as possible and not later than Wednesday June 27th.  Once your application has been received we will provide you with details about how you can make your payment (unfortunately we are unable to accept cash or cheques).

Please note that places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis based on payment date.  The cost of the course is £177 and in order to secure a place applications and payment should be made in full as soon as possible. Confirmation of a place on the summer school will be sent as soon as possible and not later than the end of June. In the unlikely event that we are unable to provide your son/daughter with a place on the summer school any money paid will be refunded as soon as possible.  Unfortunately we will be unable refund any payments if your son/daughter withdraws from the summer school unless their withdrawal is covered by the school’s insurance or their place is taken up by another student, in which case a refund may be made, minus an administration fee.
