Old Colcestrian Society Presents Cricket Trophy

On Thursday 25th January Sean Bunch, past president of the Old Colcestrian Society, presented the Tom Cullen Trophy for the CRGS leading wicket-taker of the season to Year 12 student Ieuan Thomas at a tutorial session at the school. The Old Colcestrian Society created the trophy in honour of our oldest living member, 100-year-old Tom Cullen.

Tom, an RAF doctor whose Second World War exploits included escaping from a Nazi prison in the fort at Torun in Poland in 1944, was a renowned cricketer in his schooldays. In 1934, his final season at CRGS, he took 75 wickets for 610 runs at an average of 8.13. His wicket total was greater than the rest of the team combined!
